Bruno Rodriguez Maraude

About his work

Just as Bruno tackles an architectural design, he starts by making a sketch which he then continues to work on digitally as a 2D or 3D model. After this pre-step, he works on the final artwork.

At first, he used the capsules as they were, though he later decided to paint them. In this way, the emphasis on structures and compositions is more effective, the choice of each color is determined by the artist’s intention, and nothing is random.

As in architecture, these works are made up of organic and rigid parts, and the shadows and lights used intentionally are also decisive.

The positive form was represented by the capsules, later he introduced the negative form and for this, he appealed to the use of plugs. Thus, two kinds of work are part of his pieces of art, playing with the full and the empty.

The capsules left the two-dimensionality jumping into the sculpture world, objects and sculptures were born enriching his body of art and giving origin to new concepts and expressions.

His passion for Minimalism, ready-made, and Pop Art encourages him to investigate new ways of sculpting using everyday objects and repeating the same object as a module on an axis.

“The guiding thread of my work is the recognizable, reiterated, daily unity of compositions or structures.”

History

At the same time as he was at the Architecture University, he became studying in the field of art focusing mainly on sculpture. At that time his aim was just to increase his knowledge.

He’s a seeker who as he loves architecture also likes to go further trying different no conventional supports and materials.

The coffee capsules’ materiality, forms, and colors caught his attention a few years ago, triggering him to collect them and then use them as modules for composing his works.

His works are based on and inspired by Bauhaus’ geometric posters, paintings, Pop Art, and Concrete Art.

Historia
